Actually, not that it really matters for Mac users, but I was wrong to 
say that the the Windows Start Menu is the equivalent of the Dock.  It's 
actually the Quick Launch menu which is the Dock equivalent.  In XP, 
this is locked and restricted by default but if one unlocks it, it 
really is just like the Dock - same place, same action, etc., but with 
no animation.  In Windows 7, it has merged (or is it splurged) with the 
Task Bar to make it even more like the OS X Dock.
