[NMUG] Camera repair?

Hello all

My Canon Powershot S3 IS isnt.
At least the lens isn't reliable extending and retracting.
Though I have a lens extension and protector on it it is perhaps because I
live at sandy Wells-next-the-Sea and am occasionally exposed to wind and
sand.

Who suggest a couple of weeks to doand likely £80 ish for a repair.

Jessops are £25 to look and probably send it to the above and take the £25
from the bill if I go ahead with repair.
Have I other options that anyone can suggest or recommend?

(Not sure I can justify the SX1 or SX10 but they look attractive)
I like the big optical zoom, Image stabilising and good movie modes too.
