[NMUG] Internet Cable Length

Hi.

Just wondered if the length of my internet cabling could affect my speed.

I have a 15 foot phone extension cable going from my phone socket to my adsl microfilter. Then I have a 15 foot ADSL cable from the microfilter to my router.

Most of the time I get a fast connection, around 6MB, but sometimes it drops to under 1MB and pages fail to render properly.

Is it cabling? Is it my exchange? Is it a problem with my Mac? Or is it expected at times?

Sorry, been used to constant speed of cable previously, this ADSL thing is new.
