[NMUG] Eudora vanishing trick?

Hi everyone.

Recently the "Check mail" button in Eudora vanished and was replaced 
by one labelled
'A  comd + "w" '
the capital A having a box drawn around it ?suggesting?
When this button is pressed (being labelled cmd+w, of course) it 
closes down the email window on the screen.
I have used Eudora for years and this has never happened before!
Does anyone know how I can change it back?
I haven't found anything in Eudora Prefs, and have tried quitting 
Eudora and re-opening, etc.
In the meantime I'm using the keyboard shortcut cmd+M (which I didn't 
know before would work!)
